Mid-Autumn Still Incense Stick

This incense is a seasonal blend made for Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the second-biggest holiday of the Chinese year, falls when the moon reaches its fullest and autumn stands at its exact halfway point. In China, autumn are divided into Three Autumns, early, middle, and late. There is a notable turning point in this season, an old name for this night, 三秋之半, "the mid point of Three Autumns". At the day, each family members gather together to celebrate and fragrances act as the messenger to send their wish of staying full as the moon.

The blend is built the classical way, by the principle of jun-chen-zuo-shi (君臣佐使): Osmanthus leads material sets the character, cliff cypress and costus support it, and everything is balanced into a whole that stays centered. All ingredients are slow-blended by hand through the workshop's inherited sequence of steps, a craft carried on China's intangible cultural heritage list.

What you smell is deliberately even-keeled: sweet osmanthus over quiet resinous woods, neither heavy nor thin — a scent shaped, like the festival itself, around roundness and ease, which perfect for slow reflection and focused stillness.
