How Night Owls Fix Late Night Sleep Schedule

How Night Owls Fix Late Night Sleep Schedule

Raise your hand if you’re stuck in that terrible night owl loop 🙋♀️ I’m 27. For years, I’ve been burning the midnight oil. It started with scrolling, gaming, random late-night snack runs. Now my whole body’s out of whack.

Here’s the kicker: On days I tell myself “tonight I’m going to bed early,” it backfires hard. I hop into bed before midnight, and suddenly my brain fires on all cylinders. I’m wide awake, tossing and turning. The harder I try to fall asleep, the more awake I feel. Classic sleep anxiety. My body’s burnt out from years of staying up late, but my internal clock refuses to cooperate.

I’ve tried cutting screen time, cold room, white noise. Nothing really helped me reset that mental “stay awake” trigger. I picked up these herbal incense sticks just to build a tiny wind-down ritual, didn’t expect much.

Smoke is gentle, zero sharp sting that makes your throat scratchy. It’s a muted, earthy herbal scent. Warm and grounded, not sweet or floral. The best way I can describe it: it wraps around the room like slow, quiet stillness. It doesn’t overwhelm the space, just softens everything. Lighting it becomes my non-negotiable cue — okay, screen time ends, night mode starts.

No instant sleepy rush. Not one of those sleeping pills that knock you out right away and them wake up with a foggy brain.

After about half a month of lighting it each night before bed, I noticed the shift. I still have nights where I want to stay up scrolling. But on the nights I aim for an earlier bedtime, the mental resistance isn’t nearly as brutal. I don’t spiral into panic thinking “I can't fall asleep.” I can relax easily and settle in faster.

This incense doesn’t fix my messed-up sleep schedule overnight. What it does is take the pressure off the whole “force myself to sleep” battle. It turns bedtime from a stressful chore into something I actually look forward to.

If you’re also a twenty-something night owl fighting the same “try to sleep early, can’t fall asleep” cycle, this low-key ritual might be worth a shot. It’s such a steal for how much calm it brings to my evenings.

Generally speaking, Qi Tu incense, Piqiu incense and Xiao Yao incense are good choices for bedtime. Or you can do a short quiz here, so that you can watch the daily care suggestions and suggested incense for self care.
